What a full interior detail actually includes

"Interior detail" means different things at different places, from a quick vacuum and wipe to most of a day on one car. This is exactly what ours includes, what costs extra, and how to get the most out of it.

What's included

Every Interior Detail includes the same work, whatever the size of the vehicle:

Full vacuum, seats and carpet

Every seat and all the carpet, including the spots under and between the seats where crumbs and coins end up. A normal amount of pet hair comes out with this at no extra cost.

Plastics and trim cleaned

The dash, console, door panels, cup holders, vents and the rest of the hard surfaces. That's where the sticky film from hands, drinks and dust builds up.

Interior glass

The inside of the windows. Inside glass gets a haze from the plastics in a car and from people breathing in it, and you notice it most driving into the sun or at night.

Leather cleaned and conditioned

If the seats are leather, they're cleaned and then conditioned so they don't dry out and crack. Cloth seats are vacuumed; shampoo is an add-on, below.

How long it takes and what it costs

An Interior Detail takes about 2–3 hours, depending on the size of the vehicle. Two people work on every car.

PackageSmallMediumLargeOversized
Interior Detail$155$175$195$235

Those prices are for a car that has been kept up. A dirtier car takes longer: moderate dirt +$30, heavy dirt / stains +$60, heavy pet hair / sand +$45.

What costs extra

Some jobs take a lot more time or a different process, so they're priced on their own and you pick them when you book:

  • Seat shampoo & extraction: $15 a seat
  • Upholstery shampoo: $60
  • Stain removal (seat and upholstery shampoo together, charged once): $135 on a five-seat car
  • Super heavy stains: $25
  • Ozone for heavy odors like smoke or pets: $30
  • Leather protectant: $1 a seat

Shampoo or not?

If cloth seats have spots, rings or a smell, they need shampoo. Vacuuming only takes off what's on the surface, and shampoo with extraction pulls out what has soaked in. Leather doesn't get shampooed; it's cleaned and conditioned as part of the package. Not sure? Send us a photo before you book.

What it doesn't cover

An Interior Detail doesn't touch the outside of the car. That's the Exterior Detail, or both together in the Full Detail, below.

Detailing can't fix everything, either. Deep stains, old odors and worn surfaces often get a lot better without disappearing completely. If something matters to you, tell us before we start.

Interior only, or the Full Detail?

  • Interior only makes sense when the outside is in decent shape, or in winter when you're already rinsing the salt off at a wash every week or two.
  • The Full Detail makes sense when the outside needs it too. On a medium car it's $30 more than the interior alone, and it adds the hand wash and dry, wheels and tires dressed, all exterior glass, and door jambs wiped down. Booked one at a time, the two would be $260.

If you're on the fence, book the one the car needs now. You can always add the outside next time.

How to get the most out of it

  • Take out valuables, cash and important papers before we get there.
  • Leave the car unlocked or leave us a key. You don't need to be home.
  • Have an outdoor outlet and a water spigot near where the car is parked.
  • Use the booking notes for anything we should know: a stain you care about, a smell, loose trim.
  • Pick the condition that matches the car, so the estimate matches what we find.
